It is a matter of choice. When there are different types of vehicles, and the interests of customers, Maruti is made with such a design with distinction from other Cars for COMFORTABLE SITTING OF 2 PERSONS. There are big cars or even vans and buses having more seats and therefore maruti might have decided to have a 4 seater, but .

the platform for all the cars which u asked are similar one. so there may not be much room to make comfortable for three.

use branded petrol like speed,power,premium for the new gen cars. l feel petrol from SHELL outlet is good.

teh cars u stated are low budget cars and thus r cost oriented rather than being comfort oriented , f u really want a car that seats 3 in the backro go for swift or getz. getz is wider !!

these cars are sold in the market as 4 seater cars...their width is not enough for 3 ppl to be seated comfortably.their width is less as comparison to Indica.. but if you see the maruti swift, it can comfortably accomodate 3 passengers on the back seat..

Who says maruti cars cannot accomodate 3 people in the back? They can comfortably accommodate 3 on the rear seats, so long as they r Japansese (NOT the sumo wrestlers).

Maruti cars r designed by Suzuki, which is a Japanese company, so they designed a car which will seat 3 Japanese in the rear seat.

Indians should stop consuming ghee, butter etc. so that they will slim down & three of them fit in the real seat of Japanese (and korean) mini cars.

Of course, only one half of a sumo wresler will be carried per mini car.
