Any car which fits in your budget and the one which impress you..
Dude make a list of the cars available under 6 lakhs and compare their specifications . weigh your priorities in each car and select the one which matches your need.

If this is your budget you have a lot of choice like the Hyundai Accent, Hyundai Verna, Honda City Exi, Ford Fiesta, The Chevy Aveo, The Lancer, and the SX4. If you want performance then go for the lancer. If you want best handling then go for the Fiesta. If you want economy then go for the Verna. If you want space, then go for the Logan and if you want value for money then go for the SX4.
My favourite is the SX4.

You ahve not stated whether u will use it extensively. l will think like that.
You have lots of cars to choose from Hatchback to sedans. l will say little about every good car u can choose. HATCHBACKS
Maruti Swift- Good car overall if u like its styling.
Fiat Palio Sport - Good & strong built car.
That is all from Hatchbacks except if u like Chevrolet U-VA. SEDANS
Chevrolet Aveo, Ford Fiesta, Hyundai Verna, Renault Logan.
Aveo, Fiesta & Verna r very good cars. Fiesta expecially for its Driving & Verna for comfort. Aveo is a good overall car.

l think u need to first decide upon various factors like
In a month, how much u drive around km in city & ------ km on highway -------
Your Preferred brands. Ford Honda Hyundai Maruti Tata Toyota Chevrolet Daewoo Fiat Hindustan Motors Mahindra Renault Mitsubishi Opel Premier Skoda
special features u want like Air Conditioner Power Steering Power Windows Central Locking Automatic Transmission Anti Braking System
Atleast people will sit in ur car -------
My car would run on any of. Petrol Diesel LPG
Your concerns about Fuel Economy : Maintenance Cost : Resale Value : Safety : Comfort : Performance : Value For Money :
And u can use carwale is ''Recommend me a Car'' option, l purchased a swift recently & it helped me a lot
Try it out,

you will for sure get a car of ur taste.

l suppose u r asking the wrong question.
First, u need to decide on the features u want, & nature of ur usage. If u will drive more than 100 KM per week, u may want to consider a diesel. If u do not drive much, u may be better off with a petrol. But if u drive too much within the city, u may want an LPG or CNG. Do u need a 3 box sedan (like the esteem?) or a hatchback like the M800/alto/WagonR? Or do u want a 5 door ''long hatchback'' like the Indigo Marina?
DO u need power windows? Do u want Antilock Braking & airbags? (Actually, do u want to be safe in event of a head on collission?) Do u want height adjustable seats? DO u want split a/c vents (separate vents for front & rear row passengers?
How much flexible is ur budget? Do u care for re-sale value? (some horrid cars command good resale value, but several good ones - mostly fiats - do not).
DO u have any brand preferences? Do u want tubeless tyres from the factory? Do u want factory fitted audio? Sun roofs?
Some of the features can be aftermarket improvements. Some, like sunroof & power steering cannot be installed after market.
Care for automatic transmission? Alloy wheels?
Hope u r confused enough. Now go & decide on ur features & find which model & variant has them. For Maruti, Lx contain least features. Lxis have a bit more. Vxi is fully loaded.
Happy hunting!!

Look out for a SX4 (good looks & power, especially interior) which is currently leading in this segment. The other option can be the diesel version for Swift, it is good on power & mileage & is a balanced car.
If u can wait then u should look out for the upcoming fiat bravo which will soon be in India. It should be around 6 lakhs but it is some real power, the petrol version is 150bhp & 1900cc. And has the best interior among Indian cars (double sunroofs, LCD screens, etc.).
