I'm planning to buy a Maruti Esteem.Please advise me with the disadvantages of the car for me to decide.

Pls reconsider as Maruti Esteem is too old a model to own. First of all, consider the resale value you will receive when reselling it as it is already so old and is not picking up sales already.

l suggest to go for Hyundai Accent instead. The model is newer and even the technology is better. The price offcourse is a little higher than Esteem but its worth.

Maruti esteem is a good car

Maruti Esteem is a very old model. It is on the verge being phased out by the company. It may soon be replaced by the saloon model of Swift. It could be sometime in 2008.

No l dont think u should go for it now. Following r the reasons why-
1) The car is out dated now. Go for something new.

2) Its not value for money anymore. In the same price range u may get something with new technology like swift..(Abs version comes around 5 lakhs)

3) Its not that good looking as compared with its competitor Ford Ikon.

4) Its very uncomfortable for 3 people to sit at the back. But in ford Ikon its more comfortable.

5) Leg spacing is very less. It cramps the legs for people sitting at the back.

6) Ground clearance is very less & in India we have more speed breakers & pot holes than roads so the vehicle bumps & it may cause damage to some parts of the car.

7) Shifting gears is not very easy & a bit rigid as was in Maruti 800.

8) Talks r on that company may stop production of the car & it is advisable not to go for a car which is in this kind of situation though being a maruti it may not have any spare part problems even if production stops.

9) Boot space is also less as compared to Ford Ikon.

10) l have driven esteem & Ikon & l really appreciate Ikon.

l would suggest u either go for Ikon or may be Swift. Both r equally good. But pls dont take Esteem now!
