Model - 2004. Maruti LX version. Let me know what would be cost of the Kit and labour and where can l get this done economically??? Please help me on this.

Installing power steering on Maruti alto take lot of modifications to install new equipments, so it is not worth installing as it will cost more then Rs.15000 and in the end it is not workable as factory fitted original power steering. You will lose Maruti warranty if you try to modify it now, If you want now then contact Maruti service station to install it.

Maruti 800 & Alto r the cars where the FAW (Front Axle Weight) is lower as compared to Esteem or bigger vehicles. Further, the chassis design is not suitable to accomodate the hydraulic power steering. Then u need space in the front to get the hydraulic pump, reservoir & hoses fitted. Very uneconomical. A continous running hydraulic power steering puts a lots of load on the already lower capacity engine. For such vehicle the soultion is electric power steering. In Alto it can be fitted easily as there is a provision. So why go for hydraulic power steering. Both oprions would cost around 35,000 if done thru' the dealer. Otherwise, u will have to get from the local market which is not possible as Maruti Udyog never allows the steering makers to sell in the after markets. The only option is buy it from local garages. No other cars hydraulic power steering can be fitted in Alto as the gear ratios r different & its very dangerous to experiment like this.
My preference is that u go for electric power steering (column type) as it would be power saving & comparatively easier than fitting a hydraulic power steering (however, this too is also not easy as the electrical wiring have to be laid out in a non-EPS car).

Aftermarket Power steerings are not as good as fatory fitted ones.. It might cost you around 20000.

Moreover your alto might not need one.
